DAUPHINE’S
A LITTLE CRESCENT CITY IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL
THE PROJECT
Dauphines is emblematic of the richly layered and iconic city of New Orleans.
THE BRIEF
To bring New Orleans to Washington, DC, in an elegant yet relaxed way, we determined the NOLA influence needed to be more nuanced than overt; just enough to create a transportive experience without creating a trite Disneyland version. We took inspiration for the name from iconic restaurants such as Galatoire’s, Arnaud’s, and Brennan’s and pulled directly from Dauphine Street in the French Quarter. With every decision, from the name to the classic logotype and the layers of eclectic illustrations, our goal was to evoke the spirit of New Orleans. Working closely with Grizform Design and the restaurant operators, we created a brand ecosystem that dovetailed with interior details such as color, custom embroidered dining chairs, curated and custom artwork, plate ware, menus, signage, etc.
